Perifery
Stad in zicht
Tekst bij fotoboek Periferie van Theo Baart: Open spaces were long taken for granted by us in the Netherlands. The country was not empty; it was taken by farmers. Nowadays we look enviously at every field where a farmer is growing cabbage for the market. Especially when that field happens to be located near the city.
Progress manifest itself with well-equipped garden centers, presentable-looking business accommodations, indoor tennis courts, inviting car dealerships and drive in fast food restaurants. All of this requires space, a great deal of space.
